Aside from being insane procrastinators, staying-up-late-editing-ers, and insane coffee drinkers, one of the most common stereotypes of authors is the character killer/torturer. The jokes abound everywhere and are some of the most commonly shared memes that exist in the writing world. In a recent post by Allison Tebo (author of the Tales of Ambia series … Continue reading Torturing Characters and the God Who Heals

Take Heart
During 2020, one of the passages from the Bible that has really stuck with me from the beginning has been John 14-18, which is part of Jesus' last few hours with His disciples before His crucifixion. Many verses from this passage have been quoted across the centuries, especially as they speak about peace, which is something that has been sought for by humanity since the Fall of mankind.
Adorning the Dark ~ Book Review
“Those of us who write, who sing, who paint, must remember that to a child a song may glow like a nightlight in a scary bedroom. It may be the only thing holding back the monsters. That story may be the only beautiful, true thing that makes it through all the ugliness of a little … Continue reading Adorning the Dark ~ Book Review
Thoughts on 2020 (So Far…)
Yeah, you probably know where this is going. Or at least, have a few educated guesses. I'll be honest. 2020 has not been the worst year of my life. (For those interested, that was 2017, but that's its own story.) But 2020 hasn't been the greatest either. Some say that these problems came out of … Continue reading Thoughts on 2020 (So Far…)

As someone who hasn't written nonfiction, I will not be discussing that branch of literature—though I'm sure it's obvious how one could … Continue reading GENRE ~ What Christian Writers Should Be Aware Of
COVID-19 and Resurrection Sunday
If you had told me back in February or any time prior that no one would be in church on Easter Sunday, I probably would have thought it was a joke. And yet here we are, most of us under self-isolation restrictions, having to spend many of our Sundays watching a live-streamed church service. As … Continue reading COVID-19 and Resurrection Sunday
COVID-19 — Lessons Learned
In case you're wondering, this is tied to my previous post, HOPE and COVID-19. Since that time, the lock-down has been extended to April 30th. Myself and many others have learned (or are still learning) to adjust to doing online classes for everything. My dance competitions have been cancelled. My youth rally was cancelled. My friends' … Continue reading COVID-19 — Lessons Learned
Words We Wrote
I don't usually post poetry on here. And I don't really intend to make it a habit. But these words popped into my head when showering the other night; I was laughing at the memories of my writing buddies and I discussing our characters; people we know who share the character personalities or people we've … Continue reading Words We Wrote
